and bear on more useful points. But making 3pt is still better

stefanp says: Normal to make the 3pt

stefanp rolls 4 and 6.

stefanp says: A good opportunity to make my bar point - the disadvantage
is it strips the midpoint very early. He should not split next throw
because I want to unload 19pt and 17pt

Ivan says: Making the bar is best. However, I also like 1-11. If I miss,
he has great priming potential, even this early in the game

Ivan rolls 5 and 2.

Ivan says: I must split here - is imperative. I normally don't, and it
loses me games (usually get cubed out after he starts priming). He hasn't
got too much hitting/blitzing potential, and obviously getting blocked in
is the common mistake here

stefanp says: Two down from the midpoint looks best - aiming for the prime

think two from the midpoint is better - lets see what Jelly says

stefanp rolls 2 and 4.

stefanp says: Making 21pt is clear - he is still in danger unless he
anchors

Ivan says: IF he had run 1-11, this might have been a double! But he
wouldn't have made the bar point, so scratch that

Ivan says: now I can run, or anchor on 22pt or 20pt. All would be
impossible if I hadn't split

Ivan rolls 5 and 1.

Ivan says: A bad roll, but it would have been bad if I hadn't have split,
anyway. I can't sensibly duplicate threes or fivess here (his good hitting
numbers), so I shan't blot on both sides of the board

stefanp says: Not a good throw for Ivan - I can now blitz or prime, with
luck

stefanp says: Not much else he could do - slotting in his board while
exposed in mine would be very dangerous. I am approaching a double if I
roll well - I estimate my equity at about 60%

Ivan says: Speculative double for a gammon? Is a take (a take for money,
therefore a take at -9-9). All his rolls play well

stefanp rolls 5 and 1.

stefanp says: Not much to do here other than attack. 13-7 gains nothing
and breaks my midpoint. If he doesn't hit or anchor I will have a strong
double

Ivan says: The double hit is clear

Ivan says: No double

stefanp rolls 3 and 3.
stefanp can't move.

stefanp says: Dance!!

Ivan says: Let's look at the rolls. Threes are slightly duplicated. Fours
anchor. Twos create builders or make the 4pt. Ones do the same. Sixes
could be bad - I run a back man but leave one trapped

Ivan says: His midpoint is stripped. Do I give him cube ownership here?
It's close. Apply Kit's rule: is it a take or drop or 'don't know'? It's
either 'don't know' or drop - therefore let's cube

stefanp says: Does he have a double? Not yet becuase he has no board

Ivan doubles.

Ivan says: I drop

stefanp says: Ivan only has 13 throws whch hit me, plus four that make an
innerboard point - a total of 17 good throws plus fours which make the
anchor and leave hit quite strong - he doubles

stefanp says: I take, as all my men are in play and the blitz danger is
low, plus I have an anchor. If he rolls badly I may get back into the game
OK

stefanp accepts the double.
Ivan rolls 1 and 2.

Ivan says: Bad roll. Is stepping up to 22pt correct? If he hits loose in
his board I could be in trouble, especially with a slotted bar or 5pt.
Safe play here - I've got the momentum, not him

stefanp says: One of his bad rolls - now I have a chance to consolidate or
maybe even continue the attack. 13-10 looks best as 24-22 does not leave a
decent one to play and exposes the man on the 22pt to attack from my man
on the 17pt should I enter from the bar well

Ivan moves 13-11 11-10 .

Ivan says: I disagree with the anchor. He hasn't got enough timing for a
backgame - failed blitzes just do not turn into good backgames. If I hit,
he loses his midpoint or an anchor. Either way, he is too stripped to be
able to control his game. My 8pt and 10pt men are a good asset here

Ivan rolls 2 and 3.

Ivan says: The hit is clear. So is coming up to the 22pt to run or anchor

man is primed
